FAQs

National Jack Summit Delegates

  • How are delegates chosen?

A minimum of 60% of delegate slots are reserved for current Jack Talks speakers or Jack Chapter members. However, we accept a number of unaffiliated young leaders to Jack Summit. All delegates are selected based on the quality of their application and their commitment to mental health advocacy. We are also committed to diversity in our programming and work to ensure a broad range of attendees.

  • Will it cost me anything to attend Jack Summit?

To attend Jack Summit, all delegates are required to fundraise a minimum of $250 for Jack.org in lieu of a registration fee. Jack.org provides you with tools to help you fundraise that amount (or more) including an online giving page, a fundraising guide, and support from head office. If you don’t think you are able to raise that much money, we will work with you to make sure you can still attend! We’re committed to ensuring there are no financial barriers that prevent any student from participating in Jack Summit. All other costs, including travel, food, and accommodation will be covered by Jack.org. Note: It costs Jack.org on average $1,500 for each delegate to attend Jack Summit.

  • Where is Jack Summit held?

In Toronto. Exact location for Jack Summit 2019 TBD.

  • Will I have to share a hotel room? Can I request a specific roommate?

You will be sharing with another delegate, unless you make a special request to be alone, in which case we ask you to pay the difference. You will be able to request a roommate of your choice, but roommates will be assigned by Jack.org.

  • I’m traveling with a service dog, can this be accommodated?

Yes! We do request that you bring some documentation for when you check in to the hotel.

  • I’m having trouble fundraising, what can I do?

Fear not! Contact summits@jack.org. We'll help with the hustle.

  • What is Jack Summit all about?

Jack Summit is entirely dedicated to supporting and building youth leadership for mental health across Canada. Jack Summit is Jack.org’s largest programmatic event and is held in Toronto each spring. We bring 200 young leaders together – leaders who are already doing amazing things in their communities to advance mental health advocacy - to learn new skills, build on each other’s expertise, and unify their voices. We do this through a variety of inspirational speakers, skills-building workshops, discussion sessions, and collaborative brainstorms that focus on change-making, mental health leadership, and ensuring youth input is at the centre of every conversation. This way, we create one, strong, youth-driven voice for mental health advocacy in Canada that can’t be ignored; and we unify a network of young leaders across the country from coast to coast to coast.
