Staff Alex Hill Toronto, ON While she'll never say no to a quiet afternoon reading in the park, Alex is happiest when meeting new people, getting deep into community building, and constantly learning. She’s followed this curiosity around the world, and been privileged to be a part of many diverse communities. From living in Guatemala working for an education-based NGO, to becoming engaged with refugee advocacy work at another JACC - the Jerusalem African Community Centre - she always finds the best opportunities for learning and growth are waiting just outside her comfort zone. Alex is committed to social and environmental justice, and to working for accessible health care of all kinds (especially reproductive rights and sexual health). She is particularly interested in finding ways to work with newcomer communities to better their access to mental health services in Canada. She's happy to be able to combine quite a lot of these passions in her role as Program Coordinator here at Jack.org! Outside of the office, Alex loves learning new languages (four and counting!), evening walks, hosting elaborate events for friends, and cooking up a storm in the kitchen. My mental health revolution is understanding how mental health is so essential to everything we do, and that by building each other up, taking care of our planet, and most importantly, ourselves, we can make a better place for everyone.
