Staff Naguib Gouda He/him English, French, Arabic, Spanish, Italian and German Naguib (pronounced "Nah-geeb") joined Jack.org to make a difference in terms of youth mental health, to do his part in eliminating the stigma, and to keep the conversation going. He has been living with mental health issues most of his life and, until the age of 30, kept those to himself (if only Jack.org existed sooner). In February of 2020, he finally decided it was time to share his story in public—doing so at the "Yalla Let's Talk!" Conference in Toronto in person and virtually through social media. Speaking to a room filled with young people, Naguib made a promise to them to continue the conversation. The pandemic "took over" very shortly after that day, he did not know where to turn. Naguib began to research and learned about Jack.org. Through many conversations, he knew this was the place for him. After numerous attempts, he eventually found what he believes is the right fit for both himself and the organization. This is a place where Naguib hopes to learn and to give back. Jack.org's accomplishments, recognition, and reputation are what made him want to join. The more resources we have, the more impact we can have and the wider our reach can get. Naguib’s role is to increase awareness of what Jack.org does, the impact it is having, and the ripple effect we can have with more help. Meeting individuals (our friends and their friends and families) who have the capacity and the desire to work with us to make a significant difference is at the core of his role. Their gifts today (or as a part of their legacy) will be an investment in our youth to lead the journey in bringing about the necessary changes. The journey to mental health well-being is to remove the stigma and shame, encourage conversations, support one another, and turn the perceived roadblocks we face into speed bumps along the way as we find our healthiest selves. In his spare time, Naguib enjoys practicing yoga, cooking, and spending time with his friends, family, and dog.
