Angelica always had an interest in psychology and mental health, but often saw the stigma that surrounded it. Once she attended her first Breaking Barriers Summit in 2019, she knew she had found the place where she could have the conversation and relate to other advocates. Angelica is the 2021/2022 Manitoba Network Representative, and she is responsible for ensuring that everyone from Manitoba is heard in the conversation and to include as many voices as possible. Her role consists of listening, talking to folks, and learning from other advocates in her province about issues they identify within their community. Angelica hopes to see the day that mental health is seen the same way as physical health. She also wants to see mental health being talked about in our schools. With education starting in the classroom, youth will be able to have the courage to speak up, know that they aren’t ‘broken,’ and know about receiving the help they deserve.

Angelica lives and stands by the motto “‘everything happens for a reason. Whether it is to make you stronger, learn something, or gain experience, that twist in the road will help you.”
