Talk openly to a friend about mental health.
Initiative Impact Icon

Impact

You don’t have to be struggling to start a conversation about mental health. Talking about mental health regularly helps break down the notion that mental health exists in isolated incidents, and creates deeper social connections (which are in turn great for our mental health)!

  • Anyone who has been separated from a friend or family member for awhile
  • Anyone looking to help a friend or family member start their mental health journey

How This Initiative Works:

Do a bit of preparation (we'll help!) so you know how to have conversations safe and effectively, and have some resources in your back pocket that you can bring to the conversation. Then start a healthy conversation!

What Happens When I Sign Up:

Once you sign up for this initiative, we’ll send you an email with all the digital tools you need to complete it. The email should appear within 5 minutes. If it doesn’t, check your trash or email dosomething@jack.org.

The Story Behind This Initiative:

It’s difficult to overstate the benefits of talking openly and regularly about our mental health, even in the periods where we’re feeling great. When COVID-19 hit, we saw an increase in mental health content on social media. But we started to hear from a lot of people that it was harder to find the time and confidence to have those conversations meaningfully and in person. We hope this initiative gently prompts Do-ers to carve out the time to talk, with the resources and tools needed to enter into those conversations safely and confidently.
