  • Mental Health & Health Care
    If elected, the Greens have committed to: 
    • Expand medicare to include universal pharmacare for Canadians and dental care for low-income Canadians
    • Establish a national mental health strategy and a suicide prevention strategy 
    • Expand mental health and rehabilitation services; reduce wait times, provide safe-access to abortion and gender-affirming health services
    • Establish a Health Canada program to support organizations focused on LGBTQI2+ youth’s mental health and well-being 
     
    They’ve also pledged to: 
    • Ensure Health Canada’s mandate is focused on mental health and addictions, health promotion and disease prevention, and the health risks of the climate crisis
    • Declare a national health emergency in response to the opioid crisis; decriminalize drug possession and treat the crisis as a health care issue
    • Support Indigenous health care services that incorporate traditional practices

  • Climate
    • Enact a Climate Change Act requiring a 60 per cent cut in emissions compared to 2005 levels by 2030; reach net zero emissions—where carbon emissions have either been eliminated or are offset by things that capture carbon— by 2050
    • Ban fracking;  no approvals for new pipelines, coal, oil or gas drilling or mining operations
    • Support the renewable energy sector—Greens aim for all Canadian energy to come from renewable resources by 2030
  • Labour
    • Ban unpaid internships in the private sector 
    • Implement pay equity rules
  • Indigenous Rights
    • Work with Indigenous leaders to establish a processes for self-governing Indigenous Peoples and nations to transition out of the Indian Act 
    • Support the rights of Indigenous communities to determine child and family services
    • Invest in upgrading in infrastructure to end all drinking water and boil water advisories
