FAQs

Local Summits FAQ

  • Who can apply to host?

Anyone who is able to bring together groups of young people from multiple neighbouring schools or community groups, and who is committed to youth mental health advocacy.

  • Deadlines to apply:

We recommend submitting your application around 90 days prior to your event to ensure a smooth planning process.

  • How do I host a Local Summit?

Apply here! Once you’re accepted, someone from Jack.org will reach out to you to set up a welcome call and send you our Local Summit planning guide. We walk you through the process and we give as much or as little coaching as you want. Checking in with your Summit Coordinator once a month but typically more than that.

  • Can I get swag or funding?

Yes! As a Local Summit organizer you will have access to free Jack.org swag and some funding.

  • What are the Local Summits all about?

Local Summits are opportunities for youth from a particular region to get together to learn about youth mental health advocacy and work towards addressing barriers to optimum mental health in their communities. They have a strong emphasis on community, skill-building, and collaboration, and the specific focus or themes of each summit is dependent on the goals and needs of the community members that are attending. We've had summits focus on themes ranging from intersectionality and mental health and the effects of academic pressure on mental health. The sky's the limit and we work with you to help ensure your summit is catered to your unique communities!

  • How can I be a delegate at a Local Summit?

Every Local Summit reflects the unique needs of its community, and so delegate registration will look different at each event. If a school or community near you is hosting a Local Summit and you’d like to attend, please reach out to the organizers directly or contact localsummits@jack.org for more information and guidance!
