  • What is Western Jack Summit?

The Western Jack Summit aims to connect young people living in western Canada in a brand new way; bringing together youth from the prairies and the west coast, this summit will provide delegates with an opportunity to gather together for the first time in Jack.org history. We know young people living in western Canada have a variety of unique experiences, whether they live in urban or rural settings or anything in-between. We welcome all youth from this region ages 15-24 to attend this summit in order to learn from their peers, and leaders in the mental health and advocacy space, as well as to build connections and momentum in their advocacy journey back in their communities.

  • When and where is Western Jack Summit?

The Western Jack Summit will be taking place in Calgary, Alberta on Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th. Delegates will arrive on Friday, October 28th afternoon and depart sometime on Sunday, October 30th.

  • Who can apply to be a delegate and how are they chosen?

All high school and postsecondary-aged young people (15-24) from across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia are eligible. All delegates will be selected based on their application’s quality and their commitment to mental health advocacy. We are committed to diversity in our programming and will work to ensure a broad range of attendees.

  • Will it cost me anything to attend?

No. Thanks to our generous sponsors, the summit is free for all delegates.

  • How do I go about booking my travel and accommodation?
Don’t worry, leave it to us! We will be working with local partners to secure everything on our end, including flights, local travel, hotel accommodation and more. Keep an eye on your email in the coming months regarding these details and more.
  • Do I need to be vaccinated to attend?
Jack.org is committed to prioritizing the health & safety of delegates, invited guests, and other Summit attendees as we safely return to in-person events. To that end, we will continually monitor territorial/provincial public health guidelines and abide by all federal regulations as set out by the Government of Canada.

To ensure the safety of everyone attending our events, Jack.org will be mandating proof of vaccination at all internally run events this year, including Western Jack Summit. This means you will need to be vaccinated with at least two doses of the following accepted vaccines as outlined by the Public Health Agency of Canada.

For more information about our policy around COVID-19, please see this one-pager. If you have received a medical exemption, or have any other concerns with this policy, please reach out to westernsummit@jack.org to speak to a member of our team.
