Emily was initially drawn to Jack.org because she found Jack.org to be a fabulous and safe platform for her to demonstrate and grow her passion for transforming the landscape of youth mental health across Canada. She continues to work with Jack.org because of its commitment to growth, engagement, and of course, centering youth voice! Emily has worn a few hats during her time at Jack.org; from a general network member, to a two-time Network Representative, and now, for her second time, as an intern! This summer, she is working as the Be There intern, focusing on all things programmatical development-wise and outreach to youth, teachers, and allies across the country! If you haven't done so already, be sure to get your Be There Certificate ASAP! ;) In the immediate and far future, Emily would love to see youth voices taken more seriously across Canada when it comes to all issues, particularly, mental health. She believes that with more conversations about mental health, funding directed to support services, and diverse voices included, resources will better serve those who need them. Her dream vision for mental health care is for it to be easily accessible, affordable, and culturally appropriate for folks across the globe. Emily go-to karaoke songs are anything by Adele, I Need a Dollar by Aloe Blacc, or whatever is on her playlist lately. A classic crowd favourite never hurts, either!
