Staff Laura Callaghan Toronto, ON As a Lead Grant Writer, Laura supports Jack.org’s Major Gifts Manager in seeking and building rewarding partnerships with grant makers. Laura has a degree in International Development from University of Toronto, and field experience as a program assistant with a microfinance organization in Sri Lanka and as a sexual health advisor for a women’s education initiative in India. Locally, Laura has worn many hats, including working as a political science research assistant at the University of Toronto, providing administrative and donor management support for the Ontario New Democratic Party, developing content and copy for UOSSM Canada, and volunteering as Logistics Director for Not Just Tourists (a volunteer-run organization that delivers surplus medical supplies to clinics in need around the world). Laura also volunteers as a crisis line counsellor with a sexual assault clinic. My mental health revolution: I am passionate about helping others in ways that preserve their dignity and respect their agency. Jack.org is empowering youth across the country to shift the conversation about mental health on their own terms, and I am thrilled to be a part of this organization and this movement.
