Jessica Landry (she/her)

Jessica Landry (she/her) is a proud Francophone, born and raised in Northern Ontario, who is passionate about mental health. This can be seen through her years of experience providing mental health peer support in her community. She currently does this through the local mental health resource website she co-founded (Thunder Bay Mental Health Space), and previously she was part of her campus's Student Wellness Advisory Team. Her dedication to mental health also comes through in her time as a Jack Talks Speaker and Jack Chapter Lead, as she has delivered Talks across Canada, as well as led and coordinated local and provincial mental health summits. Continuing to look after the mental health of her community, Jessica spends her time volunteering with the Thunder Bay Friendly Visiting Program which offers community connection to elderly in need, as well as with the CHOICES program, which focuses on equipping youth with the tools to build their self-esteem and succeed. Jessica hopes for this year to continue her work in the mental health space with a focus on the mental health of Indigenous Peoples, something that she is the utmost passionate about.

Interest and Motivation to Become a Senior Speaker
What interested Jessica in the Senior Speaker model were the coaching, training opportunities, and the ability to have more of a say in the redesign of the Jack Talks program. Additionally, she really enjoys when she gets to deliver Talks to organizations and adult audiences which Jessica would like to continue doing.

Training and Professional Development Interests
Jessica is always looking to better herself as a speaker, as an individual, and as a Jack Chapter Lead by gaining more cultural competence. She believes that knowledge of media relations could also really benefit the chapter work she does as well.

Speaking Experience
As a seasoned speaker, Jessica has delivered Talks for over two years. This has included Talks for corporate and adult audiences, as well as diverse populations. She has also supported recording media, facilitated Be There Workshops, and spoken as part of a panel.
