The story behind our treasured relationship with the Szocs Foundation.

A mental health charity like ours depends on passionate advocates. They are often in the background, quietly supporting vital work in their communities without proper recognition for all they do.

For us, that advocate is Andy Szocs, with his wife Cheryl and family in full support. We’re delighted to announce that the Szocs Foundation is now a Leadership Partner with Jack.org.

Andy founded Norpac Controls and built it into an extremely successful company on the West Coast, which he eventually transitioned to his employees in 2000. In his retirement, he has been passionate with his time, energy, and generous donations to make a difference for others. His focus has been mental health, and specifically efforts to end the stigma in our society. His presence and influence have enhanced the effectiveness of the Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation, Lion’s Gate Hospital HOpe centre, and the VGH-UBC Me Too speaker series over the past 16 years. He is very proud and highly enthusiastic to be partnering with Eric and the Jack.org team.

With the support of the Szocs Foundation, we’re so excited to expand our Jack Chapters and Talks, and our Regional Summit program in BC. We closed out 2016 with a Talks Tour throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, and we’ll kick off 2017 with our new association with the BC Regional Student Summit.

At the peak of Grouse Mountain on January 28, Jack.org will host Talk at the Top. Presented in part by the Szocs Foundation, Talk at the Top will bring together high school student leaders from the Sea to Sky corridor and the North Shore of Vancouver for a youth-led summit on mental health leadership.

Jack.org student leaders in BC are ready to end the stigma around mental health. With the Szocs Foundation, they have the support they need to make it happen.
