Jean-Marc Nadeau

After completing a 22-year career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, during which time he was posted in three provinces, two territories, and seven RCMP detachments, and finally deployed to Afghanistan for a one-year mission in 2011 as part of Canada’s commitment to helping develop the Afghan National Police, Jean-Marc Nadeau became city manager of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, in 2012. He served a population of over 13,000 residents and a significant operating budget. His leadership was vital in managing diverse city operations and driving regional economic development. Additionally, as CEO of SUMA, Jean-Marc leads the organization in line with the Board's strategic direction, promoting collaboration and implementing policies that serve SUMA's mission. Through a culture of open communication and creativity, he supports the advancement of urban municipalities in Saskatchewan.

Complementing his professional experience, Jean-Marc Nadeau has a strong academic background. He is a Doctor of Philosophy from the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School, with a research focus on institutional change in the public sector.  His academic journey also includes a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ottawa, a Certificate in Manitoba Municipal Administration (CMMA) from the University of Manitoba, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Osgoode Hall Law School, underscoring his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
